Privacy notice

Last updated 1 September 2026. Demynex is the data controller for personal information processed through this website and our briefing service. We are based at 20A Sapling Rd, Bolton BL3 3QL, United Kingdom.

Who we are

Demynex publishes technology and future-trends intelligence from Bolton. For privacy matters write to [email protected] with the subject “Privacy”. We will respond within 30 days, usually faster.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run a news desk and a subscription:

  • Name, email address and organisation when you write to us or request a sample week.
  • The content of your correspondence, including pitches and correction requests.
  • Subscription preferences and a record of which briefings we have sent you.
  • Technical logs that keep the site up (IP address, browser type, pages requested) retained for security, not for profiling.
  • A single local cookie recording whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies on this site.

We do not buy lists. We do not run advertising pixels, social trackers or third-party remarketing. We do not sell personal data.

Why we process it

Correspondence and subscriptions are processed so we can deliver the service you asked for (contract or steps prior to contract) and, where you have asked to hear from us, on the basis of legitimate interests in running a specialist news service — balanced against your right to object. Security logs are processed as a legitimate interest in keeping the site and our readers safe. Where the law requires a consent (non-essential cookies), we ask.

How long we keep it

Subscription records last for the life of the subscription and 24 months after it ends, so we can resolve billing and complaints. Editorial correspondence that forms part of a published story is kept with the reporting file. Routine emails that do not become a story are deleted after 18 months. Security logs are rotated within 90 days unless they are needed for an incident.

Processors and transfers

Email is handled using professional hosting in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If a tool ever requires a transfer outside those territories, we will use a lawful mechanism such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and tell you on this page. We do not use the contents of your letters to train public machine-learning models.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may ask us to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to receive a portable copy of data you provided. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather fix the problem first; write to the desk.

Cookies

This site sets an essential record in local storage so we do not ask you about cookies on every visit. If you accept, we may remember that preference. If you reject non-essential cookies, we set nothing beyond what is required to remember the rejection. There is no analytics suite hiding behind the banner.

Journalism

Some personal data is processed for the special purposes of journalism. Where that exemption applies we will still handle material with care, but we will not allow a subject to edit the news. Sources who need protection should say so clearly when they write.
